Launched at Expo Real in Munich, the third Annual Benchmarking Report from the International Sustainability Alliance (ISA) highlights the growing influence of ISA’s unique database of property sustainability.
The database comprises extensive and detailed consumption data provided by ISA members, who include leading corporate real estate owners, occupiers, developers and investors. They collectively control 150 million m2 of commercial assets in 51 countries, with an estimated value of more than £150 billion.
‘ISA is dedicated to achieving a more sustainable built environment through the better measurement of building performance,’ says ISA Chief Executive, Phil Buttery. ‘There is a growing awareness among property owners and managers of the need to report accurate data on the environmental performance of their property, and the value of independent benchmarks in assessing the relative performance of individual buildings and whole portfolios.’
‘Assessing performance in this way can significantly contribute to the management of financial performance – and help identify poorly performing buildings that cost money, consume resources and are not viable in the long term.’
Key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks derived from the database provide ISA members with the tools they need to monitor the performance of their property portfolios, compare and report performance year-on-year, and benchmark their buildings against those of other members. They also receive expert reports on the performance of their buildings and how this could be improved. For more information on ISA, go to www.theisa.org.
